More than 25 years ago, the Escola d'Hostaleria de Castelldefels opened its doors for the first time and, over time, became a benchmark for hospitality training in the Baix Llobregat. Fondly remembered for its iconic Aula Restaurant, the school quickly established itself as a point of reference for the town and for many generations of professionals in the sector. Hundreds of students have trained here, acquiring skills and a way of understanding the trade based on real practice, respect for the profession and a culture of service.
The leading hospitality school in the Baix Llobregat.
Located in Castelldefels, in the heart of the Baix Llobregat, the school welcomes students from across the area: Gavà, Sitges, Vilanova i la Geltrú, Sant Boi de Llobregat, Viladecans and nearby towns find here hospitality training with real work placements, an employment contract from day one on the FP Dual programmes, and a network of more than 400 partner companies in the region ready to take on the talent that comes out of our classrooms.
A closure that was not the end.
Like many schools, the pandemic forced a pause that could have been permanent. It was not. During that time, while the premises housed the social work of the Red Cross, the school's legacy lived on in the memory of everyone who had passed through its classrooms and its restaurant.
In 2024, the Crece y Conecta group reopened the project with the aim of training more than 450 students a year, under the leadership of Raimon Martínez, revitalising the sector through high-quality training adapted to the new demands of the market.
Today the school stands as the leading centre for culinary and hospitality management training in the Baix Llobregat, with the backing of local authorities and strong relationships with the hospitality guilds of Castelldefels, Gavà, Sitges and Vilanova i la Geltrú.
What we are today.
The reopening was not just administrative, it was a complete rebuild: a new methodology of our own (INSPIRA®), Certificates of Professional Competence (Certificados de Profesionalidad) funded by the SOC, the boutique programme Inspira Pastelería, an Advisory Board with institutional and business representation from the region, and an Aula Restaurant that is once again open to the public, just as people remembered it.
Today, the Escola d'Hostaleria de Castelldefels is once again what it always set out to be: a place where a vocation for hospitality becomes a real profession, with genuine work placements, experienced teachers and a network of companies ready to open their doors to the talent that comes out of our classrooms.
